A. Puggioni, M.D.
Board-Certified Vascular Surgeon

Dr. Puggioni graduated from the University of Rome in 1994  and received her 5-year General Surgery education at the University of Hawaii, where she trained with the surgeons who pioneered venous valve repairs and deep venous reconstructions. She won several awards during her residency, including the "Best Resident`s Chairman Award" for 2 consecutive years, due to her superior surgical skills, patient management and team leadership.

She completed a Vascular Surgery Fellowship at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. At that time she won the BSN Research Fellowship of the American venous Forum for her original experimental research. The following year Dr. Puggioni was awarded the Marco Polo Fellowship by the Society for Vascular Surgery, which she spent in Dendermonde, BE with the world-leaders in cutting-edge endovascular procedures.

After fellowship Dr. Puggioni worked as an academic vascular surgery attending at Maimonides Medical center in New York, where she held a position as Ass. Professor at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, NY. Dr Puggioni is a fully-trained vascular and endovascular surgeon, board-certified by the American College of Surgeons in both General and Vascular Surgery.  

Dr Puggioni is a nationally and internationally known expert in Venous Disease, is a member of numerous Vascular societies committees and a reviewer for scientific publicatons. She regularly presents her research work at major vascular society meetings in the US and abroad, and has authored over thirty peer-reviewed articles as well as twelve book chapters in the field of arterial and venous vascular diseases.
